Fall 2020 Operational Plan
We will be holding all activities virtually during the fall 2020 semester. Office hours are from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday. Please call us to schedule an appointment over the phone or via Zoom at 540-231-9876 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be available to offer assistance over the phone during regular business hours, Monday–Friday at 540-231-9876. If a member of the staff is not available to answer your call, please leave a brief message with your name and telephone number and someone will get back to you shortly.
Faculty should continue to report allegations of academic dishonesty to the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity. All reports will be taken–please refer to the information below regarding the case management. The administrators in the office are available via phone at 540-231-9876 or e-mail at email@example.com between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Director of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity, Kara Latopolski, is available for consultation during this time and may be reached at 540-231-5544 or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be glad to discuss any issues that arise and support you in any way we can through this challenging time. Please review the additional information and contact the office with any questions.
Faculty–Student Resolution Process
The faculty member speaks to the student themselves, the student accepts responsibility and the sanction, and the faculty member reports the outcome.
If you are interested in utilizing the Faculty – Student resolution process, please contact our office before beginning this process by calling 540-231-9876 or e-mail email@example.com. Faculty who engage in this process are still required to report the case to the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity via the reporting form. If you would like an administrator to sit in the meeting with you, please let us know and we will be glad to accommodate your request.
The Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity facilitates on behalf of faculty members. During these meetings, Undergraduate Student Delegates will present information and the student with their options on how to proceed.
Administrative meetings held between students and delegates will continue to be held this fall. All meetings will be held virtually with a delegate via Zoom, and all paperwork will be e-mailed. All meetings will be scheduled in advance for the purpose of providing a Zoom link. If at any time, a student does not feel they have a private space available to them, they may contact our office at 540-231-9876 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance in locating a space on campus.
Student does not accept responsibility and/or the sanction proposed by the faculty member, or has a prior incident on record.
The Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity will be regularly holding hearings. All hearings will be held virtually via Zoom. If at any time, a student does not feel they have a private space available to them, they may contact our office at 540-231-9876 or e-mail email@example.com for assistance in locating a space on campus. Faculty members attending hearings may utilize their own homes or office spaces.
Going Remote With Integrity Webinars
The University firmly believes that promoting academic integrity involves much more than adjudicating cases of alleged academic dishonesty.
It also requires an institutional wide effort to promote academic integrity through preventive programming, as well as providing students with remediation steps to deter future academic dishonesty violations. Hence, the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity leads the University’s efforts to promote integrity both inside and outside of the classroom through education and accountability.
The purpose of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity is to support the campus in its efforts of promoting the highest standards of integrity and honor for students.
The Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students. We truly believe that instilling the values associated with academic integrity is vital to higher education and society. We welcome opportunities to speak with faculty members, classes, student organizations, parents, and individuals about academic integrity.
